How Lifestyle Medicine Support is Structured

Prior to your appointment you will be asked to complete a Lifestyle Medicine questionnaire. Your initial appointment will allow us to explore your health history, undertake any relevant clinical examination and set your personalised goals. This will result in an holistic assessment of your health and creation of your personalised health and well-being plan. A copy of the plan will be given to you to keep. Follow up tests may occasionally be recommended, such as tests for cholesterol or diabetes or to assess hormonal or gut function. These tests would be optional and would incur an additional cost.

A follow-up appointment would usually be recommended 2-4 weeks after your initial appointment to review the plan, discuss your progress and answer any questions you may have. From there support would very much be personalised. It may involve a further appointment at 3 months to review progress and adjust your goals or may involve more intensive support if this is helpful e.g. if support around stress reduction is helpful or more intensive coaching or behavioural change support is required.

For some patients it may be more appropriate after the first follow up appointment to undertake a course of support with another therapy such as some focused work with a Nutritional Therapist or personal trainer. If there are needs around stress reduction, IBS, reducing substances, improving sleep and energy levels etc. then Dr Dyson may recommend follow-up with her for Hypnotherapy – please see here for more details of this therapy.
