Dr Ruth Dyson

Dr Ruth Dyson qualified from the University of Southampton Medical School in 2002. Even prior to qualifying, she had started to become interested in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and took a specialist study module on the subject during her training.

On finishing medical school she spent a year working in Winchester at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital then went to work in New Zealand for a year. On her return she settled in Winchester where she completed a 3 year GP training scheme.

Once a fully qualified GP, she spend some time working as a locum before becoming a three-quarter time partner at a practice in Basingstoke, which allows her time to pursue her other interests.

Throughout her training she has maintained an interest in complementary therapies and developed an interest in the psychological aspects of medicine. She has attended a number of training courses on CBT and incorporates some of the techniques into her practice. She qualified as an NLP Practitioner in 2008 and it was during this training that she first became interested in clinical hypnosis.

In order to learn how to use hypnosis to benefit her patients she undertook the Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis. This taught her how to use hypnosis to treat a wide range of problems, both psychological and physical. She successfully completed the course and exam and now holds the MDCH and is a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
