Dr Nick Avery
MB BS LRCP MRCS MFHom
Physician (Integrated Medicine)

Dr Avery qualified in medicine at Guy's Hospital in 1975. After qualifying he practised as a GP from 1981-2000. During this time he worked as a Clinical Assistant in Diabetes and developed an interest in Holistic Care. He subsequently trained in both western and Chinese Acupuncture and completed a three year training programme with the Homeopathic Professional's Teaching Group, qualifying as a medical homeopath in 1999. He incorporated both acupuncture and homeopathy in his NHS practice for a number of years and saw great benefits for his patients. In 2000 he was invited to join the Centre for the Study of Complementary Medicine in Southampton and London (later The Centre for Complementary and Integrated Medicine - CCIM) to develop his expertise in these areas. In June 2009 The Centre amalgamated with The Natural Practice in Winchester.

Dr Avery worked for six years at the Homeopathic Hospital in Tunbridge Wells where he became a Clinical Fellow and helped set up the Homeopathy teaching course there, becoming Director of Education at the hospital in 2001. He took further training with the British Society for Allergy, Environmental and Nutritional Medicine (now British Society for Ecological Medicine) completing their three year course and incorporated these new techniques into his practice.

Dr Avery has written a number of articles about the use of complementary medicine in conditions such as eczema and chronic fatigue.

Dr Avery helps run the NHS contract pioneered at CCIM with East Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole which enables many patients living in those areas to benefit from complementary techniques to help difficult conditions such as IBS, Chronic Fatigue, Eczema, Allergies, Asthma and Migraine within the Health Service. He has particular interest in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia as well as IBS/Candida and uses homeopathy to deal with the emotional component of the illness - which is the aspect causing all the suffering.

His philosophy is" 'If you only listen to the patient, they will tell you everything you need to know in order to make them better'.
