Professor George Lewith Completed a Natural Sciences degree at Cambridge and then subsequently qualified in medicine with specialist qualifications as both a physician and general practitioner. His interest in complementary medicine began over 30 years ago during a five month stay in Nanjing when he obtained his diploma in acupuncture. He has pursued both a clinical and academic career within this field completing his PHD (MD) in 1992.
George Lewith practices as an integrated physician, trying to bring the best of both worlds into his clinical practice. He is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society, an honorary member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered physiotherapists and a member of the British Acupuncture Council. He also has full membership of the British Society for Environmental Medicine and has a strong practice in nutritional medicine He is an Honorary Consultant Physician at Southampton General Hospital, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners as well as being a fully trained general practitioner.
His clinical interests in particular relate to the management of persistent pain, arthritis, chronic fatigue, developing an integrated medical approach to cancer, as well as the management of simple childhood problems and common allergies, such as asthma and eczema.
