Hypnosis
is an age-old technique, probably first used by the Egyptians and
Greeks in ancient times and is a powerful tool to effect beneficial
change, especially in people with a specific problem. Most people
can be hypnotised, and the better ones imagination the easier
it is to put them into a trance state. Some people can be hypnotised
by one therapist and yet not by another.
Most therapists aim only to achieve a light trance state where you
will remember the whole process. You cannot be hypnotised against
your will as you can come out of your relaxed state at any time and
will remember everything.
Many patients find the state a little different from what they were
expecting, but extremely peaceful and pleasant. In fact, the method
Dr Dreaper uses is specifically tailored to enhance your control of
your life situation. Afterwards you will usually feel more in charge
of your thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions: this particularly
so in cases of phobias, anxiety states, panic attacks and habits such
as smoking and over-eating.
Self-hypnosis is a method which Dr Dreaper teaches, whereby the subject
practises self-improvement each day for 20 30 minutes. This
sometimes includes listening to a tape which is personally recorded
for each individuals problem. |
