Dr Patricia Ridsdale Takes Over Oxford and Bournemouth Clinics

Dr David Owen has, over the years, had a range of educational roles including working with medical students at Southampton University, supervision and training for doctors in the Wessex Deanery and as a Responsible Officer making recommendations to the General Medical Council on behalf of the Faculty of Homeopathy.  As his work commitment with them has increased, he has decided to hand over the Oxford and Bournemouth practices to his long term colleague and medical homeopath Dr Patricia Ridsdale from September 2015.

Many of you will know Dr Ridsdale as she has been working with Dr Owen at The Natural Practice for over 13 years at both the Winchester and Basingstoke practices and has a similar clinical approach to whole person care. 

She has been a general practitioner in the Basingstoke area for 25 years and remains a GP still. She takes a whole person view of illness and advises on both acute and chronic illness, using a range of integrated, holistic complementary therapies, including homeopathy, acupuncture and nutrition. “I like to empower patients and help them to understand how their bodies work’ says Dr Ridsdale.

She is a highly qualified medical homeopath, being a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy and on their specialist register.

Dr Ridsdale also has an interest in diving and sub-aqua medicine and has completed The Institute of Naval Medicine Underwater Course. She was a founding director of the Hantsdoc out of hours emergency GP organization for Basingstoke and chairs the Faculty of Homeopathy Members’ Committee. She teaches medical students at the University of Southampton and has contributed to a book on supervision for the medical profession and, together with Dr David Owen, updated Andrew Lockie’s Encyclopaedia of Homeopathy, published by Dorling Kindersley.  She frequently contributes to homeopathy conferences, both abroad and in the UK.

Dr Ridsdale looks forward to meeting the Oxford and Bournemouth patients in September.  To ensure an smooth handover of care she will be offering existing patients a 40 minute follow-up appointment for the price of a 20 minute follow-up appointment for your first appointment with her to give her time to get to know and understand patients’ medical history.

Dr Ridsdale will be available for consultation at the Oxford and Bournemouth practices on one Tuesday per month.  Dr David Owen will continue to see patients in Winchester, London and Chichester.  He is also available for telephone consultation for those patients who don’t wish to travel.
